Hydration

Water is critical to life. Your body, while some variances exist, is probably roughly 60% water at any given moment. Your body water allows for the proper functioning of your body.

Do a search of the Internet, and one number says 75% of Americans suffer from at minimum mild dehydration. This is despite ample supply of water to the majority of Americans. (Note: This is one study of 3,003 people, so take it with a grain of salt.)

I studied the symptoms of dehydration when I began suspecting I was a sufferer of this ailment three years ago. Of course, being the Internet, I immediately was dehydrated. I also had several forms of cancer, spontaneous conception, and an ingrown hair.

So here are some of the symptoms of mild dehydration

  • Dry, sticky mouth
  • Sleepiness or tiredness — children are likely to be less active than usual
  • Thirst
  • Decreased urine output
  • Few or no tears when crying
  • Dry skin
  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

Over the years, I’ve made progress on staying hydrated. However, inevitably, I’ve always fallen behind on this front and ended up dehydrated.

For the second half of 2019, I am committing myself to staying hydrated and improving my overall hydration plan. To this end, I’ve installed a water tracking app on my phone, which is sync’d to Apple Health. I will receive a quick notification every 90 minutes to my watch reminding me to hydrate.

This is part of my overall health efforts for the second half of 2019 as I come crashing into my 42nd year at the end of November. It’s time to get to the goals I’ve had and wanted to accomplish and make things happen.
